CRT Resources!
Check out these resources for prep through to Grade 6, which are particularly handy on days when you're called out without any work prepared. Alot of them I've created myself. I hope you like them!
Caution: Just be aware that if other CRTs have taught in the same grade in the same school they may have already used some of these resources (As I've discovered!)
All year levels
This has some great activities using newspapers. My advice is rather than having to try to find newspapers at the school keep a box of old newspapers at home which you can take in with you.

Create your own word search. It doesn't how old you are everyone loves a word search!
(Hint: when you've finished making it highlight it all and copy and paste into a word document)

"Get off our bums" was released by World Vision in 2003. I love it! It proves that kids of all ages can think for themselves. Get your kids to write about what they would do as Prime Minister, have an election and vote in a new PM. But don't restrict what format they do it in (in fact you should reward originality). If some kids want to make it a picture, acrostic, poem etc.., let them!! Below are some examples from the book.
Early Years (Prep to Gr 3?)
Dancing Raisins (Good science activity. You'll need raisins and lemonade/soda water!)
Upper Years (Gr 4 to Gr 6)
Spaghetti Junction (Comprehension task (Gr 5/6), which will last a lesson or more!)
Spelling Games (Good fun but also involves strategy rather than just spelling)
Parts of body competition (Gr 5/6?)
